Gli Holler sono tornati e non hanno nessuna intenzione di sedersi sugli allori del successo di “Reborn”. “Next In Line“, disponibile dal 23 maggio su tutte le piattaforme grazie a Scarlet Records. E’un pugno nello stomaco, un’esplosione di energia controllata che dimostra la crescita e la maturazione di una band con le idee ben chiare.
Se “Reborn” aveva il sapore e l’urgenza della ribellione, “Next In Line” è un disco adulto, consapevole, che guarda dritto negli occhi le difficoltà della vita senza perdere un briciolo di grinta. La formula vincente è la stessa: un songwriting solido, una produzione curata e l’inconfondibile voce graffiante di Terence Holler, frontman e autore di tutti i testi.
Ma stavolta c’è qualcosa di più, un’urgenza espressiva che rende ogni brano un piccolo gioiello di potenza e introspezione. Holler non si nasconde dietro a metafore o frasi fatte, ma mette a nudo le sue esperienze, le sue delusioni e le sue riflessioni, trasformandole in musica. E lo fa con una sincerità disarmante, che arriva dritta al cuore dell’ascoltatore. Ogni canzone è un mix di sentimenti e groove AOR.
Se Terence durante la sua gioventù a New York si è ritrovato a subire atti di bullismo, il titolo dell’album ne è il riscatto: non è più sempre il “prossimo della fila”, ma adesso è il suo turno, è finita l’attesa, questo è il suo momento. La sua rivincita è finalmente attivata, una vendetta simbolica, una dichiarazione di rivalsa attraverso il successo.
Il suo background rock anni 80 trova così conferma, dopo la ‘rinascita’ del primo album.
Tecnicamente, “Next In Line” è un disco impeccabile. La band suona come un’unica entità, con una coesione che esalta la qualità delle singole performance. La sezione ritmica è potente e precisa, le chitarre tessono trame sonore complesse e avvincenti, con assoli potenti che si incastrano alla perfezione ad altrettanti assoli di tastiere e synth, e la voce di Holler è sempre al servizio della canzone, capace di graffiare e accarezzare con la stessa intensità.
I punti forti del disco sono molteplici.
L’opener, “A Miracle”, è un’esplosione di melodia e potenza, mentre “Stormy” sorprende con le sue venature prog. La cover di Sia “Chandelier” stupisce e cattura con il suo groove irresistibile. Le ballad “Don’t Fool Me” e “The Ocean” mostrano il lato più intimo e sensibile della band, e “24Seven” è un brano heavy con una forte anima prog. “Crystal Eyes” è puro hard rock e “Trust” coinvolge con le sue atmosfere cupe e riflessive.
Poi ancora il turno di una melodia armoniosa con “Away” per poi tornare con “The Leader” ad un brano forte e prepotente, marchio di fabbrica di Terence Holler. Mentre la conclusiva “Perfect Place” è un vero e proprio viaggio sonoro, ricco di suggestioni e sfumature.
In definitiva, “Next In Line” è un album che conferma il talento degli Holler e li proietta verso un futuro ancora più luminoso.
Un disco maturo, intenso e sincero, che saprà conquistare sia i fan di vecchia data che i nuovi ascoltatori. Gli Holler sono qui per restare, e con “Next In Line” hanno dimostrato di avere tutte le carte in regola per arrivare in cima. Il nostro voto è decisamente un 9/10 Non vogliamo dare 10/10 affinché alla band rimanga sempre quel sapore di sfida per arrivare alla perfezione!

Holler is back, and they’re not resting on the success of “Reborn”. “Next In Line”, out May 23rd on all platforms via Scarlet Records, is a gut punch, a controlled explosion of energy that proves this band has leveled up. If “Reborn” was all about rebellion and raw urgency, “Next In Line” is a grown-up, self-aware record that stares life’s challenges in the eye without losing an ounce of edge.
The winning formula stays the same:
tight songwriting, sharp production, and Terence Holler’s unmistakable gritty vocals (he’s also the sole lyricist). But this time, there’s something deeper, an emotional urgency that turns every track into a powerhouse of intensity and introspection.
Holler doesn’t hide behind metaphors or clichés. Instead, he lays bare his experiences, disappointments, and reflections, turning them into music with disarming honesty that hits you right in the chest. Every song is a mix of raw emotion and AOR groove.
Growing up in New York, Terence faced bullying, but the album’s title flips the script. No longer the “next in line”, this is his moment. The wait is over. This is his comeback: a symbolic revenge, a declaration of triumph through success. His ’80s rock roots shine even brighter after the “rebirth” of their debut.
Technically, “Next In Line” is flawless. The band plays as one, with a tightness that elevates every performance. The rhythm section is punchy and precise, guitars weave intricate, gripping layers, and solos, both guitar and synth, lock in perfectly. Holler’s voice serves the songs, shifting from a snarl to a soothing croon with equal intensity.
The album’s highlights are everywhere.
Opener “A Miracle” is a melodic explosion, while “Stormy” surprises with proggy twists. Their cover of Sia’s “Chandelier” grabs you with its killer groove. Ballads “Don’t Fool Me” and “The Ocean” show the band’s softer side, while “24Seven” delivers heavy riffs with a strong prog soul. “Crystal Eyes” is straight-up hard rock. , and “Trust” pulls you into its moody, reflective atmosphere.
Then comes “Away”, a smooth, harmonies-driven moment—before “The Leader” slams back in with Terence Holler’s signature aggressive punch. Closer “Perfect Place” is a full-on sonic journey, packed with depth and texture. Bottom line? “Next In Line” cements Holler’s talent and sets them up for an even brighter future. It’s mature, intense, and brutally honest, a record that’ll hook longtime fans and new listeners alike. Holler is here to stay, and with this album, they’ve got everything it takes to climb to the top. Our rating? A solid 9/10. We’re holding back that 10/10 to keep ’em hungry for perfection.
